The Bierzo is a region located in the province of León, which borders on León in the South and East, on Asturias in the North and on Galicia in the West.
This exceptional geographic situation turns the Bierzo into an unique enclave.
It's is surrounded by mountains everywhere, that is the reason why the Bierzo has a microclimate, which is excellent to cultivate recognized quality products.
We have 65 hectares of land covered by vineyards. Our wines are authorisized and have the Bierzo Denomination of Origin. Our wines also have a distinguished place in the national wine production especially in a variety called Mencia, cultivated in the Northwest of Spain.
According to some ampelographic studies, the variety Mencia comes from the French one called Cabernet Franc, which were grown by the French monks who made the Camino of Santiago thousands of years ago. The adaptation to our region has been excellent and the grapes, which have been grown under Atlantic climatic conditions, have created flavors of stewed fruit and strong colors. The results are aromatic wines with balanced alcohol and acidity.
We also use a white variety of grape called the Godello, which is from our own region and, like the Mencia, mantains a connection with the River Sil Valley. White wines are so characteristic because of a balanced and richness in glycerine flavour with delicate fruity and citric notes.
