Bodega Margot is a family run winery located in Tupungato in the Luján de Cuyo area just outside Mendoza in Argentina. Our speciality is fine quality sparkling wine, made according to the traditional French and Italian champagne and charmat methods. We also produce a premium Malbec still wine called Maula and translated literally The Cats Meow.
Our plantation started in 2003 when 24 hectares were planted, and we have areas for further expansion. The vineyard is located at high altitude of 1.050 meters above sea level in the area of dense and best quality vineyards of Luján de Cuyo where the grapes are destined for the highest premium wines in the area. The soil is of rocky clay and the irrigation water comes directly from the ice melt off the nearby Andes mountains of Aconcagua, La Plata, El Tupungato. Our vineyards are protected by anti-hail nets and are planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Malbec. We have sister properties where we grow our Chenin Blanc and Syrah at high altitude.
Our vineyards produce between 80.000 and 120.000 kilos of grapes per hectare with pruning taken into account and according to the variety of wines our enologist wishes to design. We also sell our grapes to other well-known wineries in the area for high quality wine production.
In 2007 we made 60.000 bottles of sparkling wine for our Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs Syrah. We also made 12.000 bottles of our fine Malbec varietal Maula. Ten percent of this juice is aged for 6 months in new French barrels, and the rest is macerated with new French oak stapes.
We currently export 20.000 bottles of this production and the other 2/3rd of the production is kept for resting in our cellars and developing to maturity.
Our enologist and winemaker is Ms. Romina Capirelli, a family member.
